Thank God for Summer

I love the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Especially Summer. I love to garden and eat the vegetables when they are ready. You can never get the same taste from store bought ones.

This year we have tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, cucumbers, and green beans. It is just the two of us so we have downsized the amount of plants we have. We have also clean up the yard of dead plants and bushes. I had peonies all along the privacy fence, but lost a lot of them over the winter. I am not sure why. I just put pots with patio tomatoes on the spot where the peonies once were.

We are going to sell next year hopefully, and will not be adding anymore plants in the yard.

I love my backyard, especially when the grass has been cut. You can find me on the back porch with a cup of coffee in hand. You are welcome to join me anytime.

  3. Thank you for commenting on my blog... so I could find yours.

Such a neat back yard. You have done a marvelous job of keeping it looking so good.

Of course, you like being on your back porch!!!

And I like how you and others, are able to see around to other back yards. It's nice to be able to do that. Here, people have put up so many trees and etc., that we can't any more.

We built here, 50 years ago, and back then, it was just one big back yard, in the middle of the block. I miss that time.

Over time, especially in back of us (we are a corner lot, so "In back of us," is on a different street...... The BF of the then owner, picked up trees along the road, and planted them all over. So our back yard view, became a jungle of messy stuff. Complete with Binder Vine!!!!!

To sort of cut us off, from the Messy Jungle, we put up a fence.

Lot sold, all trees removed, a view again. Then new owner built huge house, and put in tall "privacy" trees. -sigh-

50 years ago, is long, long, long gone. Of course. -grin- The only thing sure, is "change."

    1. One of the things we like about this house is the view from the back. Down the road there is this one neighbor that has a jungle like you say. I think they have some kind of creeper vine on their trees and it looks horrible.

  4. Your yard reminds me of my friends' chateau in Pau, France. We don't see many lawns here due to drought.

  6. Hi Betty, your backyard is lovely; it's easy to see why you love to sit there with your cup of coffee . . . very relaxing. Thanks for visiting and I appreciated the fact that you liked the painting over the fireplace. I painted that several years ago of my dear husband Steve. He loved sailing and his favorite spot was at the helm with a good rolling wind at his side.
Wishing you a lovely day sweet friend.

  7. Betty, your back yard is lovely, so green and groomed. And the view! It would be so nice to sit on your porch and have a cup of coffee. I'm glad you enjoy Summer. It is actually my least favorite, as it gets hot here in California. But I try to appreciate each season I'm in. It looks like some of your neighbor's trees might provide some shade for you. Homegrown veggies are the best. Enjoy your garden, Betty. Your back yard is really very nice. : )
